On June 25, 2024 Polk County Fire Rescue and Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on HWY 27 & Cypress Gardens Blvd SE.
The call came in at 1:07 pm and 10 units were assigned to the accident scene:

Polk County Sheriff’s Office will be completing the investigation and they are still in the process of investigating, so we have very limited details about the crash at this time.
Polk County Fire Rescue confirmed one patient was medically evacuated by helicopter following a traffic collision with a power pole on the side of the roadway. A vehicle caught fire as well.
All lanes were shut down but we’ve been advised that they are slowly clearing and working toward being fully open. Polk County Sheriff’s Office stated that travel may still be slow in the area, as power lines are still being worked on.
