An important message from Winter Haven Public Safety Department

Winter Haven Police want to warn citizens that we would never call letting you know we are on the way to detain you. Of course, they do this to get money from you.

Today, a citizen received a call from what appeared to be the WHPD administration line (of course it was spoofed) and told her an officer was on the way to detain her. As they talked, her Spidey senses kicked in and she got into her vehicle heading to the Police Department. She kept them on the line and told them she was on her way to the Department in person. When she told them she arrived, they disconnected. GREAT JOB!

If you receive a call claiming to be an officer and you have a warrant or they are on the way to detain you, immediately hang up. You can call the Department admin line (863-291-5858) to speak with the supervisor on duty to ease your mind.
