Polk County Government Florida has shared that FDOT Southwest Florida is spending about a half million dollars to fund construction of the Inwood Elementary School sidewalk improvement project. The money will help Polk County fill in gaps between existing sidewalks, making commuting to and from school safer for students in Winter Haven by reducing the amount of time they spend exposed to traffic. The Polk TPO helped prepare a Safe Routes to School grant application requesting the funding for this project.
