June 9, 2025- A tragic collision occurred this morning in Polk County involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by a 62-year-old man from Lake Worth, was traveling eastbound on State Road 60, east of US-98. While passing other vehicles in the median safety zone, the motorcycle approached another vehicle—a GMC 2500 pickup truck towing a trailer—driven by a 21-year-old man from Winter Haven.
The GMC initially in the outside lane, moved into the inside lane, where it was overtaken and struck from behind by the motorcycle. The impact caused the motorcycle to become lodged under the truck.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
