At approximately 4:29 p.m., the Winter Haven Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at a residence on Foxboro Lane SW. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and fire conditions originating from the kitchen area, which had extended into the dining room, living room, and attic spaces.

Firefighters quickly initiated an interior attack, bringing the fire under control with assistance from Polk County Fire Rescue through automatic aid. The residence houses two adults and three children, however they were not at home as the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage. The American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the displaced residents.
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by Winter Haven Fire Department.
