DECEMBER 24, 1939 – NOVEMBER 23, 2025

John Russell Anderson, born on December 24, 1939, in the small Swedish town of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida. Raised in the Lutheran faith, John embodied its values throughout his life. As a young man, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an early reflection of his dedication and perseverance.

John served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Special Radio Operator before returning to pursue his education, later graduating from Florida Southern College. On May 11, 1967, he married Jerri Wetherington in Danforth Chapel.

Professionally, John built a respected career in the agricultural industry. He worked with Farm Credit as both a Loan Officer and Chief Appraiser and was also a citrus grower.

John is survived by his wife, Jerri; his daughters, Susan Stilfield (Andy) of DeBary, FL, and Nancy Anderson (Jimmy Hollis) of Crawfordville, FL; and his grandson, Benjamin Ford of Sanford, FL. He is also survived by his “little sis,” Nancy Art of Tucson, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Areta Sellergren Anderson and Carl Lester Anderson, and by his brother, James Lester Anderson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches.

John will be remembered for his integrity, service, and the love he shared with his family and friends. 

According to his wishes, there will be no services.
