A fatal crash occurred early Sunday morning on US-17, just north of Mirror Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At approximately 2:25 AM, a Toyota Camry, driven by a 30-year-old man from Winter Haven, was traveling southbound when an adult female pedestrian entered the roadway from the center median turn lane.
The pedestrian walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck. Despite immediate emergency response, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released. The Florida Highway Patrol is urging drivers and pedestrians alike to remain vigilant, especially during early morning hours when visibility is reduced.
