Robbie Lou Dunson
November 11th, 1935 – October 6th, 2025

Robbie Dunson walked through life on the quieter side; she was always—always kind, generous, and thoughtful. In her own quiet way, she was a risk taker. When she was much younger, she traveled to Portugal to work and live for a couple of years; this was not the norm for women in the 1980’s; that risk taking characteristic stayed with Robbie until the end of her life. She died a month before her 90th birthday from the complications from a knee surgery. She knew that having the surgery was a risk at 89, but she weighed the risk and pushed through. She died peacefully at her home on Lake Elbert. Robbie will be greatly missed.
Robbie grew up in Winter Haven graduated from Winter Haven High School 1953. She worked at Lake Region Bank as an officer and parlayed that experience into a move to Atlanta, where she became a Vice-President at the Trust Company of Georgia. She lived and worked in Atlanta for 10 years, before moving back to Winter Haven where she became a real estate agent. Robbie was respected by her peers in Portugal, Atlanta, and Winter Haven. She loved the beach and always shared that time with her family. She traveled extensively, but loved just being in Winter Haven. She began her interest in photography while in Atlanta and kept that passion up her entire life. In retirement, she enjoyed photographing sunsets on Lake Elbert, and she was a voracious reader with a well-used library card. In addition, she did not shy away from technology, in fact, she was very well-versed in many programs and loved online games. Even though Robbie was quiet, she had a dry wit that would surprise. One of her greatest joys was taking care of her great-great niece and nephew, Ellie and Easton. Robbie was devoted to her family and spent her last few years simply enjoying the simplicity of life. Her faith was strong, and she was grateful for the life she was given. May she rest in peace.
Robbie Dunson was devoted to her family and friends. She was the daughter of Jesse and Leo Dunson who came to Florida in the 1930s. Robbie was the oldest of the four sisters. She is pre-deceased by her father, Jesse, her mother, Leo, and her sister, Mary Dunson. Her remaining sisters are Del Freeman and Donna Dunson. Other family members: Christy Brown, Aaron Brown, Kathryn Brown, Ellie Brown, Taylor Kilpatrick, Ryan Kilpatrick, Easton Kilpatrick, and Sandy Simmons. Robbie’s cousin, Leslie Dunson, Jr. was more like a brother than a cousin. Her dear extended family: Jim Campbell, Joni Lusa, Kurt, Jim, Tim Campbell, Michael, Scottie, Milli, and Ren Blankenship, Mary Beth, Jake, and Rachael Campbell. She adored her cousins, local and out of town.
A small sunset service for family and friends will be held on Lake Elbert on November 8th at 4:45. The address is 268 E. Lake Elbert Drive NE, Winter Haven. Reverend, TaVaris Johnson will be officiating.
