Barbara Guthrie

September 10th, 1939 – October 19th, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Guthrie, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully in Winter Haven, Florida, on October 19, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life.

She was an avid quilter and had a flair for sewing, which she enjoyed sharing with friends and relatives. Every Friday, like clockwork, you could find her shopping, hunting for the perfect pocketbook or piece of jewelry, and any clothing she could get her hands on. Her warmth extended beyond her family, as she took on the cherished role of Homeroom Mother at the elementary school, where she provided support and care to children in need. Barbara had a vibrant and playful spirit. She enjoyed cooking, caring for her family, playing video games on her iPad, and watching football, where she passionately cheered for her favorite teams. Her love for life and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew her. She cherished every moment spent with her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, LT and Evelyn Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Donald; sons, Donald (Rebecca Robley) Jr., James Sutton, and David Sutton. She was a proud grandmother to Casey Sutton and Allie Guthrie, whom she adored deeply. Barbara is also survived by her devoted sister, Linda J. Eason, and her faithful puppy dog, Katie. Throughout her life, Barbara exemplified the virtues of honesty, loyalty, and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to remember her with acts of kindness and generosity by making donations in her name to the Humane Society of Winter Haven or St. Judes.

Barbara Guthrie will be profoundly missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
