Officers informed Julian’s mother that law enforcement had been notified that her son’s ankle monitor had been tampered with. She told officers Julian left the residence at approximately 11:00 a.m. and had not returned for his 6:00 p.m. curfew.

At approximately 9:41 p.m., officers received a call regarding a golf cart that had just been taken from a business located at 5999 Dundee Rd. in Winter Haven. The owners of the golf cart were at the business with the cart just outside. They heard the “beeping” of the cart just before seeing the cart being occupied by a black male who was backing the cart up. They saw the cart then head east towards Hwy 27 where the owners lost visual.

While officers were on scene investigating the theft, a traffic complaint was dispatched regarding a golf cart on Cypress Gardens Blvd. at Hwy 27. The cart matched the description of the stolen golf cart. Officers started to circulate the area and located Julian on the golf cart and attempted a traffic stop near Hwy 27 and Mountain Lake Cutoff Rd. Julian drove the cart into the wood line, jumping off and running into the woods. Winter Haven officers and Lake Wales Officers chased Julian ultimately catching him and taking him into custody.

Julian was arrested and booked into the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center for one count of Grand Theft of Motor Vehicle (F3), Tampering with Electronic Monitoring Device (F3) and Violation of Juvenile Probation.
