On November 19, 2024 Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle vs bicycle accident at Recker Hwy & Crosstower Drive in Winter Haven.
PCFR was dispatched around 7:37 a.m. Upon arrival, crews transported one Trauma Alert (TA) patient from the scene via Aeromed with facial injuries.
PCFR Public Information Officer Katelyn Hoverkamp did confirm that the person on the bicycle was an adult, not a child. (we had questions asking about age of bicyclist).
Winter Haven Police Department also responded to the scene and Jamie Brown, Winter Haven Public Safety Department’s Public Information Officer advised a 60-year-old male was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk and when he rode out onto the road, he hit the side of a vehicle as the vehicle was turning.
As of this afternoon, the trauma alert patient is in stable condition.
