Winter Haven Man Dies in Early Morning Crash on SR-570 in Polk County

A fatal crash occurred Monday morning, May 18, 2026, around 6:10 a.m. on SR-570 in Polk County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford pickup truck towing a utility trailer was traveling westbound on SR-570 when traffic ahead began slowing. The pickup truck failed to slow and collided with a Toyota sedan, pushing it forward into a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Toyota, a 42-year-old Winter Haven man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 26-year-old Auburndale man, and the driver of the tractor-trailer, a 50-year-old Lakeland man, were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
