The National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor a tropical wave that now has a 90% chance of development into a tropical system in the next 7 days.

Note- the NWS has emphasized that it’s too early to determine if there’s any threat to Florida. We will update as more information becomes available.

National Hurricane Center Weather Update:

This Tuesday September 2nd 2025, a tropical wave located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic south of the Cabo Verde islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next several days, and a tropical depression is likely to form later this week or this weekend.

This system is expected to move westward to west-northwestward at around 15 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic through the weekend.

It has a low (30 percent) chance of formation in the next 48 hours and a high (70 percent) chance of formation in the next 7 days.
