Thursday morning (April 23, 2026) around 8:45 a.m., Winter Haven Fire Engine 3 responded to the Heather Glen subdivision after a resident called about hearing a cat possibly stuck inside of a storm drain.
When the crew arrived and removed the manhole cover, they found four tiny kittens in the middle of the pipe stuck between two openings. Utilizing a hose line, the crew gently flushed water in the pipe to push the littles to the other end of the pipe where a firefighter waited to catch them.
The resident who called secured the kittens and planned to reunite them with the mama cat where he believes he last saw her.
