Polk County Sheriff’s Office –

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office got a call on August 5th about 2 dogs in peril due to rising waters.

When deputies got there they found much of the west Lakeland neighborhood was threatened by Hurricane Debby flooding.

Special Operations responded with the Swamp Buggy to help any residents (and pets) who needed assistance.

Residents who chose not to evacuate were provided with assistance and confirmed to have access to a working phone for emergency communication.
